Marie-Chantal Kaninda

Marie-Chantal Kaninda joined Glencore DRC five years ago as Vice President of Corporate Affairs.
Since January 2023, she has served as President of Glencore DRC and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kamoto Copper Company (KCC), a partnership between Gécamines and Glencore in the DRC. She has more than 25 years of professional experience in the mining sector, working with major international groups such as Ashanti Goldfields, AngloGold Ashanti, De Beers Group (overseeing administration, communications, and external affairs in Central Africa and communities across Africa), and Rio Tinto, where she served as Director of External Relations for Africa.
Marie-Chantal holds a degree in economics from the University of Liège, Belgium, and was the first African woman to lead the World Diamond Council, a role she held for two years. Married with two daughters, she has long been an advocate for improving access to education for girls and women and promoting greater inclusion in the mining sector.
She mentors numerous young women entrepreneurs in the DRC and is the founder of a not-for-profit organization, the MCKM Foundation, which focuses on girls' education in the DRC. She has been recognized by Forbes Africa as one of the most influential women for three consecutive years.
